Well it’s that time of year, to take time to reflect on the year past and look ahead to your goals for the coming year. Be sure to celebrate what went well in 2014 and recognize challenges. Challenges grow character we need them to put some muscle into our life. If your not growing, your dying. If your relationships, business, or your personal growth is not flourishing, you will never experience real fulfillment.

It doesn’t matter how much money you have or how many friends you have. Without pushing yourself, overcoming barriers, you will never truly feel personally fulfilled. For the year ahead I give my coaching clients a set of questions to reflect on the past year and set forth new goals for 2015, with a dose of positive thinking. Never underestimate positive thinking. Negative emotions prevent your mind from seeing the other options and choices that surround you. You just focus on the negative and see no way out. It’s your survival instinct. Barbara Fredrickson is a positive psychology researcher, I read a lot of her studies. Her research may be too long to list in my short blog but the basis of her findings is that positive emotions broaden your sense of possibilities and open your mind, which in turn allows you to build new skills and resources that can provide value in other areas of your life. Various activities can increase your level of happiness anything from meditation, to writing, to making time in your schedule to have “fun.” Give yourself permission to smile and enjoy the benefits of positive emotion. Schedule time for play and adventure so that you can experience joy, and explore and build new skills which will help you get closer to your goals for 2015! A life coach can keep you on track of this and remind you to be mindful of these activities and how they can relate to your own level of happiness and fulfillment. Happy 2015!! Make it a good one!
